NPES-The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies has changed its name to the Association for Print Technologies, the Reston, Va.-based group announced Tuesday.
The newly branded APT will launch a new website in coming months. It has also established a Community & Industry Development staff department to advance programming designed to support businesses throughout the industry value chain.
"This rebrand of the organization signals a significant turning point, not just for our association, but for the entire printing and imaging industry," APT President Thayer Long said. "The convergence in our industry is essentially in the rearview mirror. Now, as our new name more clearly expresses, our broader scope and direction are focused on greater alignment among the commercial printing and imaging value chain."
In addition, the association is retooling its annual industry event, PRINT. The event, along with the separate GRAPH EXPO, previously was produced in conjunction with Printing Industries of America and Idealliance. However, APT assumed full ownership of both events last year.
The new PRINT has been "right-sized" to a three-day event scheduled for Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at McCormick Place in Chicago, according to APT. The show's organizers plan to expand focus on business growth opportunities, including new learning and education formats and a greater emphasis on technology. http://bit.ly/2DkiS9D
